Jet recently visited Soul Sisters and met with Asma, the incredible founder, to learn more about the vital work this charity is doing. Soul Sisters was founded to empower people and their children affected by domestic abuse, helping them live independent lives free from fear and violence.
Peer Support
Soul Sisters runs a peer-support programme for anyone impacted by domestic abuse. This is a safe space to connect, share experiences and receive guidance from people who have lived experience or have supported others through similar challenges.
Family Court Support
Navigating the family court system can be overwhelming. Soul Sisters provides guidance, emotional support and assistance with documentation for families going through legal proceedings.
McKenzie Friend
Not everyone can afford legal representation. Soul Sisters offers support as a McKenzie Friend, helping individuals represent themselves in court with encouragement and practical guidance.
Workshops
The charity hosts a variety of workshops, offering a safe and welcoming environment to get creative, learn new skills, and meet like-minded women.
Drop-In Sessions
Soul Sisters offers drop-in sessions with trained professionals who can provide personalised guidance and support.
Independent Advocacy
Through independent advocacy, the charity helps women understand their rights, access services and use their voice effectively. This includes support with civil and criminal courts, housing, health, and education agencies.
Soul Sisters is powered by a brilliant group of volunteers who dedicate their time to supporting women and children affected by domestic abuse.
