Another week another pop-up, this time checking out Rochdale’s very own northern quarter – Spotland Bridge Mill. What a fabulous place, we will definitely be going back. The place is full of delights. Parking was easy and there were some lovely spots to enjoy a coffee with friends, have a working lunch, summer’s evening of entertainment or take advantage of the many services on offer.
Our pop-up was hosted by The Twisted Mule Brewery, their bar was a welcome cool relief on a sweltering day. Drinks and ideas flowed as people joined from a variety of sectors including colleagues from businesses, education, public and community. By the end our ‘champions’ box was bulging with new recommendations, and we can’t wait to have follow up conversations. As usual some great ideas were formed, prompted by using the Our Future Place Tool.
After the session a few met for lunch in Mill About. We quickly agreed it would be a great site for a future pop-up. The food was lovely and the vibe just oozes curiosity and fun.
Other things to check out at the venue are: Defiance Distillery and Bar, Westmill Collective (a hair, beauty and aesthetics studio, and training facility), Nobilia/Kutchenhaus (Europe’s biggest kitchen supplier), Recruitment Solutions (employment agency), Xcede Technologies (IT solutions), RDDC Studios (dance & drama studios), Baby Sensory Rochdale (classes for mums and little ones), Aaron’s Ink (cool tattoo studio), Rochdale Parent Carers, Rochdale Pilates & Yoga Studio, There are also band rehearsal rooms, a clothes designer and other small businesses and services.
Spotland Bridge Mill is a perfect example of the creativity, enterprise and collaboration that make Rochdale such an exciting place to be. Spaces like this don’t just offer great food, drink and services – they show how local people and businesses are shaping the town’s future together.
