The club, the community and the borough

Over the past year, For Generations To Come, powered by Our Future, has been exploring how a shared belief in Rochdale, in each other and in the football club can be turned into real and lasting impact.

This work is not about imposing ideas. It’s about getting out into the community, meeting the people who live and work across Rochdale, championing the great things already happening and listening to what matters most locally and backing them to make change.

For Generations To Come is something close to the heart of the Ogden family, built on the belief that the connection between the football club and the borough can help create a legacy of change.

I fundamentally believe the best future for Rochdale will be shaped by the people and organisations who care deeply about it, and who are ready to explore new possibilities together. No one person can do this alone. It only works as a collective effort.” – Cameron Ogden, Co-Chairman, Rochdale AFC

What we have been hearing

Since the launch of For Generations To Come in May 2025, Jet and Ben from Our Future have spent time with people right across the borough. What has come through in conversations is that Rochdale is full of people doing valuable work, often without recognition. The care, expertise and passion are already here, but there’s an aspiration for more joined up thinking, greater transparency on decision making and more opportunity for people to get involved.

Reflecting on the approach, Jet said: “It sits at the centre of Our Future. Not a single project or initiative, but a way of working shaped by listening, relationships, trust and shared responsibility.” – Jet Powell, Operations Director, Our Future.

Across every conversation, one word has come up again and again: Hope.

Alongside that sits a shared honesty that when the brilliant work happening across Rochdale connects, it can go further and have an even greater impact.

One local champion said: “You can tell a lot about how people feel about a place by listening to how they say where they are from. We want to create a change that allows people to always say ‘Rochdale’ with pride.”

How to get involved
