About
People across the borough of Rochdale are coming together to shape the future of where they live and lay the foundations for generations to come. Here’s where it started, who’s involved, and how you can be part of what comes next.
Rochdale’s future is ours to build
“They have shone a light on the amazing things already happening in Rochdale, while creating a safe enough space for people to say, ‘This isn’t working — what could we do differently?’”
For Generations To Come launched at Rochdale Town Hall in May 2025. Since then conversations have taken place across the borough, for people to come together, share their ideas, and work together to do something new for the place they love.
Early chats over coffee turned into larger Let’s Talk conversations and a movement formed of people who wanted to stay connected and develop ideas together. These individuals became the For Generations To Come founding Future Builders.
In 2026, local organisations joined as Movement Partners supporting a thriving future for the next generation. The Home Wins network was formed for those who have roots in Rochdale but now live elsewhere. Over the summer the public Round Here conversation invited anyone with a connection to Rochdale to share ideas online or at community events. In the autumn national funders and policy makers were invited to meet with Future Builders and Movement Partners to explore how funding could be used differently to support people across the borough.
At the end of this year the ideas from the Round Here conversations will be shared and people will be given the opportunity to collaborate and bring them to life.
The idea takes shape
Rochdale AFC's owners, the Ogden family, begin working with the Our Future team, leading to the launch of For Generations To Come at Rochdale Town Hall in May 2025, with over 200 people in the room.
Conversations begin
One-to-one conversations with people across the borough, the launch of the Let's Talk conversations, and the beginnings of the Founding Future Builders and Movement Partners.
The movement grows
Home Wins connects Rochdalians living elsewhere, Round Here opens up the conversation to everyone, and movement partners join from across the borough.
